this is about implementing FEC on top of a layer2 mesh (batman-adv). You won't 
need specific knowledge about the underlying protocol but you will need to 
familiarize yourself with linux kernel programming. It requires knowledge in C 
programming and some rough idea about how layer2 works.
The fragmentation part can be left out.
