this is very specific of the "wireless community" setups, where
uplinks are "home ADSL" from different providers. The network is on a
private IPv4 and every ADSL router makes NAT with a different public
IPv4.

to aggregate bandwidth of the various lines the only dirty hack is to
send ALL the traffic to a fast server and from there connect to the
Internet with a single IP address for the all mesh network.

you need UDP tunnels for this, because IP-IP tunnels will not pass all
the NAT of the ADSL routers and some firewalls block weird protocols
in the Internet.

this is the solution to a specific problem, not a improvement in terms
of routing.
