Nein. Das stimmt nicht. Mit den Subtargets grenzt man (leider) bereits
das Erzeugen der Images für Zielhardware ein. Wenn das nicht wäre,
hätten wir das Problem nicht.
Es ist also deutlich mehr als das setzen von verschiedenen Configs.

Doch. Der Nachteil ist, dass wir zwei unterschiedliche BSPs haben, die
theoretisch auseinanderlaufen können. Das möchten wir eigentlich nicht.
Jeder Knoten soll eigentlich die gleichen Komponenten beinhalten.
Am Ende läuft es darauf hinaus, dass die kleinen Modelle weniger
Features umsetzen als die großen und das möchte ich vermeiden. Wenn wir
da von der Gateway-Firmware reden, okay.. Da macht das vllt Sinn! Aber
für die normale eher nicht.

Der Patch müsste auch in Upstream rein. Die Lösung, die sich die
OpenWRT Leute da ausgedacht haben ist so in meinen Augen nicht
sinnvoll. Möglich, dass es da Argumente für gab, aber die sind mir
aktuell nicht bekannt, daher habe ich eben diese Meinung. Offenkundig
scheinen diese möglichen Argumente jeden Falls nicht zu sein.

Wollen wir auseinanderlaufende Geräte haben? Wollen wir schon wieder
gefriemel bei den Image-Namen?
Oder wollen wir eine saubere Lösung, wo die Geräte alle gleich
behandelt sind?

Hm.. Ich steck da gerade nicht so tief drin, muss ich mir mal angucken.
Wie gesagt, ich sehe im Moment keinen Grund, warum OpenWRT das so
umgesetzt hat. Für uns hat es eigentlich nur Nachteile!

Ja, auf der einen Seite ja. Wir hängen nun mal vom Upstream ab. Aber in
meinen Augen ist das ganze sowas von untragbar und sinnlos für uns,
dass wir da mit Upstream reden müssen! Wer weiß, vielleicht kommt dann
ja ein Killerargument dabei raus, dann wissen wir aber wenigstens warum
wir uns diesen Schmerz antun sollten!
